Description The logbook and journal of the brig Malta details 13 voyages between Para, Brazil, and Boston, and occasionally Maranham, Brazil. Home port was Boston; master and log keeper was George Newell. It is a daily log that describes wind, weather, location, shipboard and port activities, arrival and departure of other ships while in port, sightings of ships while at sea, sightings of birds and fish, activities while docked in Para, provisions, handling cargo, and repairs to the vessel, sickness and death on board, as well as the rescue of the crew from ship [Actress?] from Newburyport captained by Pettingall.
