Description

The logs of the Ann, Three Sisters and Astrea are bound together, along with miscellaneous papers and correspondence relating to the voyages. The logs, kept by Nathaniel Silsbee, describe wind, weather, location, sightings of ships, shipboard activities. Includes examples of poetry and sea songs and a list of vessels in China in 1789 and 1790.

The incomplete daily log of the British brig Ann details a voyage from Liverpool to Saint Vincent in the West Indies (May 1776 to Aug 1776). Master was Diederich Wise.

The daily log of the Three Sisters details a voyage from Salem to the Cape of Good Hope, Batavia and China (Dec 1788-Jun1790). Owner was Elias Hasket Derby; master was Benjamin Webb.

The daily log of the Astrea details a voyage from China to Java, (Jan 1789 to Feb 1789). Owner was Elias Hasket Derby; master was James Magee.
