Description | The logbook of the ship Houqua details two voyages, from New York to Hong Kong and Shanghai, with several trips between Hong Kong, Whampoa, and Shanghai, and back to New York (Nov 1847-Mar 1849); and from New York to Canton and back (Apr 1849-Jan 1850). Master was Charles P Low. It is a daily log that describes wind, weather, location, sightings of ships, and supplies. Log does not continue while in port. Includes more extensive entries for three days at the end of the abstract for the first voyage, detailing a hurricane and the author’s experience going overboard. Bound with the ship Samuel Russell and ship N B Palmer. |
